Another time another place

Description

When the season of seven has past
When the end of an age has come at last
When the eyes of the future close
When the petals fall from the blood red rose
When the heart of will ceases to fight
When the world can't tell wrong from right
Then you will find me

When the dreams flow from the frozen fields
When the sadness of a thousand years yields
When the forsaken path of the broken fate falls
When the painful reality of truth calls
When the trust of the steadfast does break
When the love of the true heart begins to forsake
Then you will find me

When the last note rings of the fallen's song
When the lost one comes and admits the wrong
When the fading memory returns of all that was there
When the broken hopes dawn and prove real care
When the dying whisper of fate brings near
When the end comes to that unspoken fear
Then you will find me

When the cup of solace is sought
When the thief of trust is caught
When the lying tongue does cease
When the lost seek a true peace
When the dying ember of distrust does fade
When the wisdom of ages debt has been paid
Then you will find me

When the anger of separation breaks down
When the pain of loss removes the crown
When the true sense of remorse has come
When the sands of time call to be undone
When the paths torn sunder mend the breach
When the lost and broken begin to reach
Then you will find me.

The world around her felt fragile and then she felt a presence interrupt her meditation. She felt the spirit of someone whom she'd not felt in a long time.

"I've found you Abigail." he said, placing his sword in front of him.

She'd been expecting this, the Sanctuary's protective shields had been weakening as if waiting for something. So many years ago a voice not her own had spoken a Prophecy, so many years had passed.. She had no idea when it was. The circle had appeared at her feet and she was gone away. Awakened to something else and something new, she'd spent so long practicing learning and growing that her skills had far surpassed even her wildest dreams. She'd grown and felt safe but here her betrayer stood before her. The only way he could be here was if, but surely it was too soon for that...

Looking into those eyes she didn't see someone humble, she saw someone who still believed that he above everyone else was worthy of being chosen. His smile reached his eyes as if he expected her to have forgotten, to have forgiven. She had or she'd thought she had but staring at him brought it all back. There'd been no closure to the way things had been left between them.

Her green eyes glared at him.

"I see you still haven't forgiven me?" he said softly.

A glowing orb appeared in her hand.

"Nope. Apparently not." he said with a hint of humor.

"You betrayed me! You lied to me! You have time and again promised the world and then gone back on your word. You left me locked inside myself for centuries and then when you free me, you turn to darkness. How many lives have we played this game, Aidan?" she spoke through gritted teeth.

Aidan shook his head ruefully, then replied, "We've betrayed each other you know. It's not always been me."

"And yet, I was the one who paid the ultimate price remember?" she said softly, but the steel in her voice gave away her frustration, "I don't recall you having your abilities locked away for centuries. I don't recall you having to meet me and I have no idea who you were? I can't believe that then you accidentally unlock that world to me but smash apart every good intention and feeling ever had towards you with your petty childishness? Let's not forget the broken promises and the trust placed in you that was so badly placed."

"Ah, yes, and I paid well for that in the end." he said and sighed, "Not that you got a chance to see it."

"And I'm sure that it was the worst ever." she said cruelly, "After all, anything that happens to you must be far worse than what happened to me."

"Please don't put words in my mouth." he said.

"It has to end." she said, "I should end it now."

"It will, but it doesn't have to end this way." he said, and shook his head, "Look at us? Always impulsive aren't we? I suppose that's what always drew us to one another."

"I was the one drawn, you not so much." she said, her tone softening.

"That's not entirely true." he said, "You know it wasn't one sided."

"It was." she said, "You just were too kind to admit it."

"No." he said.

"Please just stop it." she said, "Stop lying to me. I don't know how you got here, but I will make you leave."

"You have to realize it, my love, the Prophecy has come to pass. I found you." his eyes sparkled as he spoke those words.

"So I gathered." she said resigned in an instant, "And how long has it been Aidan?"

"Long enough to finish the prophecy. " he said, exasperation reaching his voice

She looked into those eyes and steeled her voice replying, "I've been here a long time and time has stood still for me."

"You must remember?" he said, "All the words you spoke."

"Those were not my words." she said, "They were the words channeled through me."

"The season of seven has passed, the thousand years... All of it." he said, "And it's been a long time spent trying to find you."

"Trying to find power you mean." she retorted.

"No, to find you." he said.

"All those have come to pass?" she asked, never taking her eyes from him.

"How else do you think I stand here before you?" he said then sighed, "You don't understand. All those things... That life, everything that was done, was done in ignorance. My heart didn't remember you till it was too late.."

"Ignorance?" she scoffed, "I told you. I explained everything."

"It was never my intention to hurt you." Aidan said sorrowfully, "I really didn't remember."

"How many times have I heard those words from your mouth." she said bitingly.

"Abagail, I come here with a changed heart. A changed mind, and a changed spirit." he said, " I am sorry for all the pain I've caused you. When you first remembered me, you once apologized to me for the pain you caused, please let me, please just let me apologize."

"None of it matters anymore." she said a snarl erupting from her mouth, "We've weaved the same pattern over again. Me turning to dark, you turning to dark, me turning to dark, you turning to dark. Whenever we meet it spells disaster."

"No, not always disaster." he said, "There's been love."

"Love" she said and laughed coldly, "I'm never quite sure if that's true."

"It is." he said, "It always was."

She raised the orb and aimed for him, "If this is the only way to be rid of our lives of our pasts, and ever seeing you in the future so be it.." she said.

The world stood still and a voice erupted from the Sanctuary.

"Be still Abagail. Be still and know the truth." It said softly. "Remember who you are and why you came here. Do not get caught up in pettiness from lives gone by."

Abagail felt herself soften towards Aidan she could feel his pain and feel his wish to find her. But her memories came back, her memory of the pain.

"Be still Abagail, it's time to finish and save the world." the voice said.

"I can do it alone. I'm stronger than he ever was and I have studied all these years. I no longer need a partner." she said defiantly, "I've learned the secrets and come to fully understand them. I can rely on myself."

"But you do need him." the voice said, "You both are meant to save the world. You know this deep in your heart, he's the only one who can manage your power and he's the only one who can amplify it. So you must.."

"NO!" she said angrily, "I can't trust him. How many lies has he spouted and how many wrongs has he never corrected?"

"Abagail, if he stands here now then he has mended his ways. It was the only way he could ever find you." the voice whispered on the wind. "You must have faith."

For a moment she considered finishing what she'd planned. Putting an end to the cycle that had brought her so much pain. The torture that would come again if she didn't severe it completely, but she felt the words of the voice touch her heart.

"You can't." Aidan said softly, "You already know that you can't. I had to learn too, I had to grow, I have awakened to the person you remembered. The one before the darkness took me deep. To the person I was when you were covered in darkness. If you take that step you step back then and we will never defeat him. If we don't defeat him, then we will be doomed to always repeat this. Is that what you want?"

She looked into those eyes and saw the wisdom that she missed. Her heart skipped a beat, could he really have changed that much?

"If I agree to work with you, you promise that you will not betray me?" she asked, distrust filling her soul, "Promise that if you betray me that you will be consumed and we shall never meet again?"

"I promise." he said.

"Then let the summoning begin. I will defeat him, and we will both be free." she said.

"We will defeat him, you can't do it alone." he said then whispered, softly so she couldn't hear, "And this time, we will both live, my love. This time you will be mine and none will stop us."

It's so sweet, and so sad, yet so hopeful, too. <3 It's the kind of snippet that I long to have, when I read your things and see your work. /// Yet somehow I'm more thirsty for more than ever! Sometimes there need to be sad endings and painful trials...but it seems they've suffered so much, that I feel for them, and want them to get a peaceful, happy finish! Teehee. <3
