Please tell me about the Violets

Tell me about the Violets
The history of your silence
The promise you wish you'd made
The price you have paid

Tell me about the Violets
The story of your violence
The history of your life
Tied up in unwanted strife

Tell me about the Violets
The coldest nights riots
The bitter sweet parting of a friend
That came to an untimely end

Tell me about the Violets
When in the massacred twilights
The blood poured like rain
Hitting against the pain

Tell me about the Violets
The haunting nights silence
The dreams you longed to live
The one you wish you'd forgive

Tell me about the Violets
Visit the pasts silence
Explain to the next generation
The pain of veneration

Please tell me about the Violets
This is an addition to the "Tell me about the Violets" poem I wrote a while ago. I thought it was time to re-visit it and re-write a few things. As the general feeling changed I decided to give it another entry.

This poem is for my grandfather. He was a WWII and Korean War pilot. When I was young he used to tell me stories about war. There were some things that he never said and some things that he never explained. Once he told me that the violets kept him sane during the wars. I've often wanted to ask him about that. I've wanted to understand where he came from in those situations. However, I never really had the courage and I honestly doubt he'd tell me. My grandfather is slowly going senile. It's kind of hard to really explain how that feels. Anyways, this poem is my "memory" to him as I'm sure there's a story that haunts him that he can't really talk about.

In another way it's my feeling on war as well...
